About Us

Information about the MOBILISed authors and how this eResource came into being, including some avatar-creation sites.

Section 1:  On Your Mark

Vision – We begin the journey by examining our teaching practice, reflecting on the needs of 21st Century learners and expressing our underlying beliefs and values about teaching and learning with ICLTs (Information and Communication Learning Technologies).

Inclusivity – What place do mobile devices have for students with learning differences?  This section examines their use in special education, or for learning support.

Digital Citizenship - How does the concept of digital citizenship apply to learning with mobile devices?

Section 2:  Get Set

Equipment – The essential gear for beginning with mobile learning in your classroom, as well as some fabulous gadgets that might make the experience easier and even more fun.

Apps – A list of recommended iPod Touch and iPad apps, how much they cost and suggestions for how you might use them in your classroom.

Rules – Enthusiastic learners and expensive devises mix better with a little discussion about acceptable use.  This page suggests how you might build on an existing “acceptable use of technology” policy, or simply start from scratch in devising a set of “rules for use” with your students.

Section 3:  Go!

Managing – Classroom management and management of devices – two areas that can often be stumbling blocks for the use of mobile devices.  This page offers some simple solutions and allows you to develop an approach that will work in your teaching context.

Measuring – We explore some ways to collect data that may be useful as evidence of the value of using mobile devices in the classroom.

Sharing –  This page offers a few “sharing” options that will benefit your students in all areas of their learning.
